The Missing
Infrastructure
for Agricultural
Finance
IoT sensor networks, AI-driven yield modelling, and API-accessible risk signals for lenders, insurers, and on-chain capital markets
Get In TouchSense
IoT sensor networks deployed on farms, capturing microclimate conditions in real-time. The foundation of our three-stage pipeline: sensing, modelling, and predicting.
LEARN MORETraceOrigins
Composable on-chain provenance from seed to shelf. Every harvest batch is a verifiable, chain-anchored record, connecting farmers to consumers and agricultural data to capital markets.
COMING SOONParaFi
API-accessible risk signals for agricultural finance. Parametric insurance, yield pre-purchase, and verified agricultural data connected to on-chain capital markets.
COMING SOONThree-Stage Pipeline
Sense
Sensing microclimate conditions through IoT networks deployed directly on farms
Model
Modelling farm state using AI-driven analysis of real-time biological and environmental data
Predict
Predicting yield outcomes to generate continuous, API-accessible risk signals for financial products (parametric insurance, yield pre-purchase, on-chain capital markets)
Why Agricultural Finance Is Broken
The Agricultural Reality
Farmers face yield volatility of 30 to 60 percent, operate on intuition rather than data, and are locked out of formal finance because their production history is undocumented. Loss of biodiversity, soil degradation, and climate volatility compound the problem. Generations of traditional ecological knowledge are being lost faster than they can be recorded. The result: farming remains one of the most productive human activities on Earth, and one of the least investable.
The Capital Markets Reality
Lenders cannot price agricultural risk because the data does not exist. Insurers cannot write parametric policies because there is no continuous sensor feed to trigger against. RWA funds cannot construct agricultural credit instruments because there is no verifiable, chain-anchored production record. Capital concentrates where data exists. Farmers are excluded because they are undocumented, and the global agricultural financing gap stands at approximately $240 billion annually.
Our Principles
Traceability as Truth
The ability to trace any agricultural product from field to consumer is both an ethical imperative and the infrastructure of trust.
Technology as Service
AI, blockchain, and IoT serve human and ecological flourishing. Technology is a means, never an end.
Biodiversity as Capital
Biological diversity is irreplaceable capital. We support documentation, protection, and restoration of biodiversity in all forms.
Knowledge as Commons
Scientific findings, datasets, and tools belong to the commons. We default to open publication and open-source software.
Verifiability as Infrastructure
Data that cannot be independently verified is not data. Every signal Herbarium produces is machine-generated, edge-signed, and chain-anchored.

Mushroom Cultivation Clusters
Currently piloting across mushroom cultivation clusters in Assam, deploying IoT sensor networks that capture microclimate data and generate continuous risk signals for agricultural lenders and insurers, with documented 25% yield uplift and 48% income increase over unmonitored baseline.

Verifiable Data Pipelines
Our research on blockchain-enabled cyber-physical systems was accepted at IISc Bangalore, proposing multimodal sensing, AI-driven inference, and verifiable data pipelines for predictive agricultural risk management, including AI disease detection models achieving 98.33% accuracy.
Financial Stack Roadmap
Herbarium provides the verified data layer. The financial products below are built on top of it by protocol partners and financial institutions.
Parametric Insurance
Weather-indexed and yield-indexed insurance products powered by Herbarium's verified sensor data feed
Yield Pre-Purchase
Forward contracts backed by predicted yield data, enabling farmers to access capital before harvest
On-Chain Agricultural Data Markets
Verified agricultural production data connected to decentralized capital markets, enabling new financial instruments built on continuous, machine-generated risk signals
Farmer Data Sovereignty
All field data is owned by the farmer or community who generated it. We hold only a limited, purpose-specific, revocable license.
Access
Know what data we hold and how it is used
Portability
Receive data in usable, machine-readable format
Erasure
Delete data when no longer needed or consent withdrawn
Non-Discrimination
Same quality of service regardless of data choices
Looking for Collaborators
We are seeking partners building at the intersection of real-world assets, undercollateralized credit, and verifiable data. If you see agricultural finance as the next frontier, let us talk.
